1.  Improves vision There’s some truth in the old wisdom that carrots are good for your eyes. Carrots are rich in beta-carotene, which is converted into vitamin A in the liver. Vitamin A is transformed in the retina, to rhodopsin, a purple pigment necessary for night vision. Beta-carotene has also been shown to protect against macular degeneration and senile cataracts. A study found that people who eat large amounts of beta-carotene had a 40 percent lower risk of macular degeneration than those who consumed little. 2.  Helps prevent cancer Studies have shown carrots reduce the risk of lung cancer, breast cancer and colon cancer. Falcarinol is a natural pesticide produced by the carrot that protects its roots from fungal diseases. Carrots are one of the only common sources of this compound. A study showed 1/3 lower cancer risk by carrot-eating rats. 3.  Slows down aging  The high level of beta-carotene in carrots acts as an ...

How much time does it takes to prepare for CSS? This is probably the most asked question by aspirants and the common answer is anywhere from 8-12 months with 10+ hours of daily study. My experience suggests otherwise I prepared for 2011 exams in less than a month (with average 6 hours/day study), and I feel that anyone can prepare and pass CSS with preparation of 2 months maximum. Any time more than 2 months is a sheer wastage of time and resources.  Before going with how to prepare for CSS is 2 months or less, let me disclose here that I havn't yet passed the exams, so skepticism on your part won't be unwarranted but as the same time also let me tell you that my result should not matter with this strategy because every person has a unique mind with varying degrees of knowledge and experience. If I pass the exam, it wouldn't mean that this strategy would work for everyone and if I fail, this wouldn't mean that this strategy does not works. Also in short, the theme b...

The 10-Step Korean Skincare Routine

The 10-Step Korean Skincare Routine Since her article on the best Korean makeup was so well-received, and you, our lovely readers, essentially demanded a skincare follow-up, the pore-less Charlotte Cho is back with a rundown of the beauty routine she picked up while living in Seoul. Skincare in Korea is a somewhat exhaustive multi-step process, a fact which seems to have sparked a ton of intrigue in the beauty world as of late. To outsiders looking in, the “million-step” Korean skincare regimen sounds a bit extreme, but it all boils down to cleansing, exfoliating, treating, intensely moisturizing and applying plenty of SPF during the day. Health Facts about Food You Might Surprisingly Never Heard Of

Health Facts about Food You Might Surprisingly Never Heard Of If you find a hair or two in your food, don’t freak out Even if you are squeamish, in fact, plenty of foods you’ve been eating every day contains much human hair. Swallowing hair will not set off the digestive problem for you since hair is made of keratin, a kind of inactive protein. Scientists have been inspecting on it and recently came up with the conclusion that it is feasible for staph bacteria to breed in a strand of hair. Even if they breed, the amount of this staph bacteria is not enough to trigger any gastrointestinal issue. Plus, L-Cys, a kind of amino acid that contains keratin is synthetized from human hair and used in doughs or bread (that you eat, a lot). So next time if you find any hair in your food, you could just eat it and totally safe. Washing Raw Chicken is a Kind of Food Poisoning Yes, even if you feel it’s dirty to not wash the raw chicken you just bought from the market, you aren’t supposed...
